Local Taxis are going back and forth, people walking up and down Darwin Street, bikes lined up and their owners are either in the bank, drinking a cup of coffee or buying fish or lobsters and somewhere along the way everybody stops at Pelican Bay.
This bay along Darwin Street is well known as Pelican Bay, simply because during cold years, brown pelicans nest here, just in the center of Puerto Ayora and I will even dare to say that it is the economical heart of town. Tour Operator offices are found here, some hotels, the Pacific Bank, lovely restaurants and cafeterias and the fish market, turned into a tourist attraction by visitors and a necessity by locals.
